ASTON, Pa.- Immaculata picked up its first road win of the season as the Macs defeated Neumann 79-67 on Saturday afternoon.
Jordan Ambrose matched his career-high with 31 points while Tyler Tillery scored a career-best 24 points and added 14 rebounds in the win for the Macs (6-9,2-1). The duo scored 55 of the team's 80 points and collectively shot 61-percent from the field (19-of-31).
The Macs found its groove in the middle of the first half and went on a 10-2 run to take a 16-11 lead with 12:15 remaining in the first half. John McArthur scored four points while Steven Dao and Tillery added three points in the spurt.
Both teams would trade buckets for the majority of the half as Jordan Ambrose closed out a strong first half for Immaculata with a layup, as the Macs held a 35-29 lead at intermission.
As a team, Immaculata connected on 5-of-15 three point attempts during the first 20 minutes and held the edge in free throw shooting and connected from the charity stripe six times while the Knights were held without a make in the first half.
Tyler Tillery and Asa Kitchen each hit layups to build Immaculata's lead to 10 right out of the gates at the half before Neumann answered with their first substantial run of the game.
The Knights went on a 13-3 run that spanned five minutes of play to tie the game up at 42 with 14 minutes remaining. The Knights would take its first lead of the second half at 48-46 after Waheem Lowman made a layup.
That would be the last lead for the home team as Immaculata responded with a 10-0 run to take a 56-48 lead at the nine-minute mark. Â The Knights would trim the deficit to three before IU went on an 8-0 spurt sparked by five points from Tillery.
The Macs went on to lead by as much as 15 in the final minutes as Immaculata held on for an 80-67 win. Immaculata shot 50-percent from the floor in the second-half and went 7-for-10 from long distance to pull away for the win. The Macs also made 12-of-13 free throws and scored 20 points off turnovers.
Immaculata stays on the road to face Marymount on Wednesday evening at 8 p.m.
