Men's Basketball Falls to Wesley

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata men's basketball team was back in action on Wednesday evening opposite Atlantic East rival Wesley as the Macs looked to run their winning streak to four games in a row. Wesley raced out to an early lead and the Wolverines used this early momentum to cruise to a 77-46 victory over Immaculata on Wednesday evening.

In the first half of play, Wesley raced out to an early lead as the Wolverines led by as many as 18 (23-5) with just over eight minutes to play before Immaculata began to battle back. Throughout the remainder of the first half, Immaculata outscored its guests 12-9, which cut the deficit to 32-17 heading to the halftime break.

In the first half of play, Immaculata shot just 28.0 % from the field and just 8.3 % from beyond the arc while also going 2-for-4 from the charity stripe. Brandon McCullough ended the opening stanza as the Macs leading scorer with nine points thanks to 4-of-7 shooting from the field and the Macs lone made three-pointer.

To open the second half, Wesley continued to score the ball well as Immaculata worked to battle back but the Wolverines held a 54-25 lead with 11:35 to play in regulation. Over the remaining 11:35 of regulation, Wesley continued to play well to roll to the 76-44 victory over Immaculata.

At the end of regulation, McCullough led all scorers with 22 points thanks to 9-of-17 shooting from beyond the arc.

As a team, Immaculata shot just 29.5 % from the field and 19.0 % from beyond the arc in the setback. Immaculata was also just 50.0 % (4-of-8) from the charity stripe in the loss. Additionally, Immaculata ended the game with just 30 rebounds while their guests claimed 54 rebounds in the victory.

Despite the setback, Immaculata did manage to keep arguably one of the more explosive scorers in the Atlantic East Conference in check throughout the evening limiting Brian Cameron to just 16 points over the course of his 37 minutes of action. Michael McCants ended the game as the leading scorer for Wesley with 17 points thanks in large part to a number of second-chance scoring opportunities.

Immaculata will be back in action on Saturday afternoon at Neumann with that contest set to begin at 3 p.m.
