Boule Lifts Men's Soccer to 1-0 Victory Over Albright

READING, Pa.- On the heels of a tightly contested 2-0 setback at the hands of Muhlenberg on Wednesday evening, the Immaculata University men's soccer team returned to the field on Saturday evening to square off against another talented non-conference foe in the Albright College Lions. After a scoreless first half, Immaculata got the goal it was looking for just over 15 minutes into the second half to earn its first victory of the young season over Albright by a final of 1-0.

How it Happened:
  • In the first half, the two sides were even in shots with four shots a piece, however, Immaculata ended the opening stanza with a slight 3-1 edge in shots on goal as well as corner kicks. Unfortunately, the Albright defense was up to the task of slowing down the Mighty Mac offense in the first half as the game went to the halftime break still even at 0-0.
  • In the 61st minute, the steady pressure applied by the Immaculata offense paid dividends as Nick Boule found the back of the net with his first goal of the season to give the Macs a 1-0 lead with just under 30 minutes to play in the contest.
  • The Immaculata defense worked hard to allow this one goal to be enough for the Macs to earn the victory allowing Albright just seven shots all evening with just two shots on goal, which Mikey Kalpokas handled well to register the shutout victory between the pipes. His counterpart, Billy Mullen had a busy night between the pipes for Albright making seven saves to try and slow down the Immaculata offense.
Inside the Box Score:
  • As a team, Immaculata registered 13 shots including eight shots on goal while allowing just seven shots with only two of those shots finding their way on goal both of which were handled nicely by Kalpokas. Boule led the way for Immaculata in both shots and shots on goal as he ended the evening with four shots with three of shots finding their way on goal with one of those finding its way into the back of the net.
  • Albright ended the contest with a slight 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Up Next:
Immaculata will be back in action on Wednesday evening on the road at Widener with that contest set to begin at 7 p.m.
