Thompson Lifts Immaculata to 4-3 Victory over Notre Dame

BALTIMORE, Md.- On the heels of another thrilling OT victory on Tuesday afternoon, the Immaculata University field hockey team was back in action on Thursday afternoon on the road against a former conference rival in the Notre Dame of Maryland Gators. Immaculata used a goal midway through the fourth quarter to earn the 4-3 victory over Notre Dame on Thursday afternoon.

How it Happened:

Unfortunately, Notre Dame answered back quickly with a pair of goals of its own before the halftime break to claim a 2-1 lead heading to the halftime break.
  • In the 35th minute, Theresa Cerruti opened the second half scoring to even the contest at 2-2.
  • In the 39th minute, Nicole Vigna used an assist from Willa Thompson to give Immaculata the 3-2 lead before Notre Dame answered back with another goal in the 40th minute to even the score at 3-3.
  • In the 50th minute, Willa Thompson scored a goal of her own off a fast break to claim a 4-3 lead with just over 10 minutes to play in the contest, which proved to be enough to lift Immaculata to the 4-3 victory.
  • Randie Kuhar had another strong afternoon between the pipes making four big saves for the Mighty Macs en- route to the victory.
