Strong Second Half Propels Immaculata Past Delaware Valley

DOYLESTOWN, Pa.- The Immaculata University women's soccer team was back in action on Wednesday evening on the road at Delaware Valley looking to pick up a victory to close out the month of September. Immaculata used a strong, three-goal second half performance to cruise to the 4-1 victory over Delaware Valley on Wednesday evening.

How it Happened:
  • In the 21st minute, Immaculata claimed the early lead as Carly Quigley scored the first goal of the game and her first of the season to give the Mighty Macs an early 1-0 lead, which would remain the score heading to the halftime break.
  • In the second half, Delaware Valley answered back with a quick goal of its own to even the score at 1-1.
  • In the 68th minute, Riley Rudd answered back for the Macs with a goal of her own to give the Mighty Macs a 2-1 lead.
  • In the 83rd minute, Tanis McDonnell extended the lead off an assist from Quigley to give the Macs a commanding 3-1 lead late in the contest.
  • Rudd added another goal late in the contest to lift Immaculata to the 4-1 victory.
Inside the Box Score:
  • At the end of the contest, Immaculata held a 14-4 advantage in total shots and an 9-4 edge in shots on goal.
  • The Macs also ended the contest with a slight 1-0 edge in corner kicks.
  • Brooke Shissler played well in goal for Immaculata on Wednesday evening making three nice saves to limit the Delaware Valley offense throughout the game.

Immaculata will not be back in action until next Wednesday evening on the road at Stevenson with that contest set to begin at 7 p.m.
