Bradley's Heroics Lift Immaculata to OT Victory over Albright

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata University field hockey team was back in action on Tuesday afternoon in the final game of a four-game home stand vs the Albright College Lions. For the second time in the last three games, 60 minutes was not enough for the Macs as the game went to overtime to decide a victor. In overtime, Colleen Bradley broke through off a stellar assist from Willa Thompson to lift Immaculata to a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory over Albright on Tuesday evening.

How it Happened:
  • After a scoreless first quarter of play, Maddy Edwards broke the tie in the 19th minute when she scored off a rebound from a shot by Bradley after a penalty corner early in the second quarter to give the Macs a 1-0 lead. Albright applied heavy pressure later in the second quarter but goalie Randie Kuhar and the Immaculata defense were up to the task to keep the score at 1-0 in favor of the Mighty Macs heading to the halftime break.
  • In the third quarter, Immaculata was faced with a barrage of shots from Albright after the halftime break but the Immaculata defense was up to the task making a number of exceptional plays to keep Albright off the scoreboard heading to the fourth quarter of play.
  • In the 52nd minute, Albright answered back with a goal of its own to even the score at 1-1.
  • In the closing seconds of regulation, Immaculata threatened with back-to-back penalty corners as time expired but Albright was up to the task of keeping the Mighty Macs off the scoreboard, thus, sending the game to overtime for the second time in the last three games.
  • In overtime, after a great save by Kuhar to deny a strong scoring opportunity, Immaculata got out on the run with a long pass down the field that was corralled by Thompson with impressive closing speed who passed the ball to a wide open Bradley who finished to give the Macs the thrilling 2-1 OT victory.
  • Kuhar was exceptional throughout the afternoon as the junior goalie tied her career-high with 16 saves to keep the Albright offense relatively quiet throughout the afternoon.
Inside the Box Score:
  • In the first half of play, Albright held a 10-2 lead in shots while also racing out a to a 4-2 lead in penalty corners.
  • On the afternoon, Albright ended the contest with a 28-7 edge in shots including a 17-7 edge in shots on goal. Albright also ended the game with a solid 12-5 edge in penalty corners.

Up Next:
The Mighty Macs will be back in action on the road on Thursday afternoon at Notre Dame of Maryland with that contest set to begin at 4 p.m. before traveling to Kean on Saturday afternoon .
