Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Falls to King's; 5-1

IMMACULATA, Pa.- Riding a solid two-game winning streak, the Immaculata University field hockey team remained home on Saturday afternoon to host King's in the third game of a four-game home stand for the Macs. Unfortunately, the visiting Monarchs got out to a fast start this afternoon and they rode this early momentum to a 5-1 victory over Immaculata, thus, halting the Mighty Macs winning streak at two games.

How it Happened:
  • King's opened the scoring early with a late first period goal after a deflection across the box to give the Monarchs the early 1-0 lead heading to the second quarter.
  • In the second quarter, King's doubled its lead with another tally just minutes into the quarter before Immaculata answered back with a goal off the stick of Maddy Edwards to trim the deficit to 2-1 midway through the second quarter.
  • King's added one more goal late in the second quarter, which extended its lead to 3-1 heading to the halftime break.
  • In the third quarter, both teams had their share of opportunities, however, the defenses were up to the task of keeping the score right where it was to send the game to the fourth quarter with the Macs trailing 3-1.
  • During the fourth quarter of play, King's added a pair of goals during the opening minutes of the final period to claim a 5-1 lead heading into the late stages of the contest.
  • Randie Kuhar worked hard between the pipes once again this afternoon making six big saves to limit the Monarch's offense while her counterpart made four solid saves of her own.
Inside the Box Score:
  • At the end of the contest, King's held a narrow 15-12 edge in total shots over the Macs while also holding an 11-5 advantage in shots on goal.
  • Immaculata ended the game with an 11-6 edge in penalty corners.
Up Next:
Immaculata will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon at home opposite Albright with that contest set to begin at 4 p.m.
