IMMACULATA, Pa.-On the heels of a thrilling victory over McDaniel on Saturday afternoon, the Immaculata University field hockey team (3-4) returned to the field on Wednesday afternoon to square off against another non-league foe in the Delaware Valley Aggies (2-3). In what was a tightly-contested game throughout,
Macy Green provided the biggest goal of the afternoon as she scored the game-winner in the second overtime period to lift Immaculata to its second victory in as many games.
How it Happened:
- In the first quarter of play, Immaculata and Delaware Valley both threatened but neither side was able to score the elusive first goal of the contest, thus, sending the game to the second even at 0-0.
- The second quarter was similar to the first as both teams threatened but neither side was able to break the scoreless tie, thus, sending the game to the halftime break still tied at 0-0.
- In the 32nd minute, Delaware Valley broke the tie as TJ Smith converted a loose ball in front into a goal to give the Aggies the 1-0 lead.
- In the 40th minute, Immaculata answered back with a goal of its own as Colleen Bradley ripped a shot from the top off an assist from Maddy Edwards to even the score at 1-1.
- The fourth quarter was yet another tightly contested affair as neither team was able to break through and score the game-winner, which sent the game to overtime.
- In overtime, Green played the hero as she took a perfect assist across the crease from Bradley to give Immaculata the win just minutes into the second overtime period.
- Reigning Atlantic East Defensive Player of the Week, Randie Kuhar played well between the pipes once again for Immaculata as she ended her afternoon with 13 huge saves after recording four saves in the first half of play alone. Kuhar's counterpart Kita Konerth also had a solid game between the pipes for the Aggies making five big saves to keep her team in the contest throughout.
