IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata University field hockey team returned home on Saturday afternoon to square off against another non-conference foe in the McDaniel Green Terror. The Macs and Green Terror locked in a tight, back-and-forth affair throughout the afternoon but Immaculata ultimately prevailed by a final of 2-1 courtesy of a late goal by senior forward
Layne Kennedy during the fourth quarter of play.
How it Happened;
- In the first quarter, Immaculata claimed an early lead when Maddy Edwards found the back of the net off an assist from Macy Green to take the early 1-0 lead heading to the second quarter of play.
- In the second quarter, each side had its opportunities but strong goalie play was the story as Randie Kuhar made six outstanding saves while her counterpart made four saves of her own including a diving stop on a penalty stroke to keep the store at 1-0.
- McDaniel answered back with a goal of its own during the third period of play to even the score at 1-1 heading to the fourth quarter.
- In the fourth quarter, Kennedy played the hero as she took an assist from Green tin the 53rd minute to give the Macs a 2-1 lead with seven minutes to play.
- In the 57th minute, the Macs directed a flurry of shots at the McDaniel defense but the Green Terror was up to the task to keep the deficit at just one with minutes to play.
- Kuhar had a great day for the Macs making seven great saves in addition to a number of spectacular defensive plays to quiet the explosive McDaniel offense while her McDaniel counterpart made 11 great saves in the setback.
Inside the Box Score:
- Immaculata ended the afternoon with a solid 17-10 advantage in shots including a 13-8 lead in shots on goal.
- Despite this edge in shots, McDaniel did manage to end the afternoon with a 7-3 advantage in corners.

This afternoon's game was the first of a four-game home stand for the Mighty Macs, which will continue on Wednesday afternoon opposite Delaware Valley beginning at 4 p.m. inside Draper Walsh Stadium.
