IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Immaculata University men's lacrosse team was unable to keep pace with visiting Gwynedd Mercy's offensive attack Saturday at Draper Walsh Stadium, as the Mighty Macs dropped the Atlantic East Conferece contest, 17-6. Freshman
James Barretta logged his fourth hat trick of the season in the effort, while
Steve Long added two tallies.
The Macs honored senior
Dan Bogda and Ryan Ridoli prior to Saturday's game, and Ridolfi made the most of his day with a goal and an assist.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Mighty Macs fell into an early three-goal deficit to begin the day, but Long's first of two goals beat the first quarter buzzer as he dove across the front of the crease and bear the goalie upper right for the Macs' first goal.
-Gwynedd Mercy scored six unanswered goals in the second quarter to take a 9-1 lead into halftime.
-The Griffins added six more in the third, but the Long ended the IU scoring drought with his second tally of the day coming off a pass from Barretta from behind the net.
-Barretta netted all three of his goals in the fourth quarter before Ridolfi netted a man-up goal in the final minute from the right side of the goal on a perfectly-timed pass from Barretta.
