Macs Can't Keep Pace In Fourth At Bryn Athyn

BRYN ATHYN, Pa.- The Mighty Mac men's lacrosse team (1-2) travelled to Bryn Athyn on Saturday looking for their second straight victory, and after a strong first half, the Macs could not keep pace in a 15-6 defeat.
 
Sophomore Steve Long and junior Ethan Johnson each scored twice, while freshmen Cole Metzger and James Barretta scored once apiece.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Mighty Macs kicked off the scoring just 23 seconds into the contest as Long took a feed from Johnson and scored to put IU up early
-Bryn Athyn scored the next two and led 2-1 at the end of the first
-The Mighty Macs played a strong second quarter to take the lead heading into halftime.  Long scored again, and after a Bryn Athyn tally, Johnson got one of his own in a man-up situation to tie the game at 3-3 early in the second quarter
-The Lions got another before the Macs scored the final two goals of the period from Johnson and Barretta to give the Macs a 5-4 advantage heading into the locker room
-IU extended their lead in the first minute on a tally by Metzger, but Bryn Athyn then went on a decisive scoring run
-The Lions scored the next 11 goals to take a convincing lead and get to the final of 15-6
 
TEAM STATS
-Bryn Athyn held a 36-20 advantage in shots and 14-9 in faceoffs
-IU was 14-for-23 on clears and Bryn Athyn was 18-for-21
-The Lions held a 43-32 edge in groundballs and turnovers were nearly even at 26 for IU and 25 for Bryn Athyn
