IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Immaculata University men's lacrosse team made its long-awaited home debut Thursday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium, dropping an 18-5 decision to visiting Hood (5-0) in non-conference action. Freshman
James Barretta recorded his second hat trick of the season with a team-high three goals in the effort, followed by a pair of scores from sophomore
Steve Long.
Denton States made 20 saves between the pipes for the Mighty Macs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Hood jumped out to an early three-goal lead in the first nine minutes, but the rookie Barretta was able to get the Macs on the board with his first tally of the day at the 3:15 mark of the first quarter.
-The Macs fell behind by a six-goal margin by the end of the first and Long chipped into the deficit with the first score of the second quarter after
Ryan Ridolfi found the sophomore in front of the crease. Long added his second goal of the game in the final seconds of the first half to keep the Macs within distance of the Blazers.
-The Blazers' eight second-half goals were too much for the Macs in the end, despite two more goals from Barretta - one in each of the final two quarters.
