ASHLAND, Va.- The Immaculata men's volleyball team (0-7, 0-4) started a two-game road trip on Friday night down at Randolph-Macon for a CVC matchup. The Mighty Macs dropped the first two sets, 25-8 and 25-10, before playing a tight final set, but ultimately falling, 25-20, to drop the match, 3-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Macs fell behind in the first set, 11-0, before picking up their first point on an attack error. The Jackets kept the Mighty Macs at bay the rest of the set, with a pair of points late coming on a service error and a kill by freshman
Garrett Pepper, but it wasn't enough in a 25-8 defeat
-In the second set, Randolph-Macon broke a 1-1 tie with seven straight to take an 8-1 lead. A couple Jacket errors cut it to 8-3, but Randolph-Macon scored seven of the next eight to go up 15-4. The Macs continued to battle, but ended up dropping the set, 25-10
-The final set was much tighter the entire way despite Randolph-Macon jumping out 4-0. The Macs scored five of the next eight to cut it to a 7-5 deficit, punctuated on a kill by freshman
Bryce Wiltbank from Pepper. Randolph-Macon maintained an advantage at 24-15, but five straight by the Macs with freshman
Matthew Lynn serving made the set tight before the Macs fell 25-20
