Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Ambrose Joins 1,000 Point Club; Men's Basketball Clipped by Rosemont

ROSEMONT, Pa.- Entering play on Thursday afternoon, only five Mighty Macs had entered their name onto the 1,000-point scoring list. Jordan Ambrose became the sixth and newest member of this exclusive group on Thursday afternoon when he knocked down a pair of free throws with 1:49 to play in the first half with the second counting as his 1000th career point. Despite a furious second-half comeback attempt, Immaculata fell by a final of 95-84.

Ambrose is the third Mighty Mac in the last four seasons to join the 1,000-point club as the most recent addition came from Mike Piekarski a year ago while the last Mighty Mac prior to Piekarski to accomplish the feat was Roy Ferrell Jr. in the 2016-17 season.

Rosemont jumped out to a 6-0 lead before the two teams traded baskets and short runs to make the score 12-10 in favor of Rosemont with just under 15 minutes to play in the first half. From this point, Rosemont went on a run stretching its lead to 25-15 before a three from Ambrose cut the deficit to 25-18 with just over 11 minutes to play in the first half.

Rosemont extended its lead with a 9-1 run over the next four minutes to claim a commanding 34-19 lead with 7:28 to play in the opening half of basketball. Rosemont extended its lead over the balance of the first half as the Ravens carried a 52-29 edge into the halftime break.

Out of the break, Immaculata began to battle back as the team opened the half with a 20-11 run to close the deficit to 63-49 before Rosemont answered with three more points to extend its lead back to 66-49 with 10:34 to play in regulation.

In the final 10 minutes of play, Immaculata continued its comeback bid as the Macs outscored their hosts 55-43 over the course of the second half of play. Unfortunately, the early deficit prove to be difficult to overcome as the Macs fell 95-84 against their former conference rivals.

Ambrose ended the game as the Macs leading scorer with 23 points courtesy of an 18-point second half performance while McCullough added 20 points of his own in the setback. Steven Dao also had a strong afternoon as he chipped in 16 points of his own going 5-for-9 from the field and 6-of-11 from the stripe. Tyler Tillery also ended his evening with a double-double as the freshman scored 12 points while also coming away with a team-high 11 rebounds in the setback.

As a team, Immaculata shot 42.5 % from the field while also shooting 32.1 % from beyond the arc and 68.4 % from the line in the setback.

For Rosemont, Chris Briner led four Ravens in double figures with 31 points in the victory.

Immaculata will return to the court on Saturday afternoon at Moravian as the Macs look to avoid a losing streak with that contest beginning at 2 p.m.
