Ambrose Lifts Macs to 65-64 Win over Bryn Athyn

IMMACULATA, Pa – Jordan Ambrose made a game-winning free throw with five seconds remaining to lead Immaculata to another thrilling 65-64 win over Bryn Athyn on Tuesday night. The free-throw capped a season-best performance for the senior with 27 points and eight rebounds.

Brandon McCullough joined Ambrose in double figures with 21 points as the duo combined to score 48 of the teams' points. Tyler Tillery was huge on the glass for the Mighty Macs (2-5) as he pulled in 11 rebounds, nine of which came on the offensive end.

The Macs got off to a slow start and fell behind Bryn Athyn 10-4 in the opening minutes of the game.

Ambrose got hot and went on a 6-0 run himself and evened up the score at 10 with 14:17 left in the first half.

Immaculata would then go on a 10-0 spurt to build a 20-13 lead midway through the first half.

Bryn Athyn responded in a big way with a 16-0 run that lasted over six minutes of game play. The Lions led 29-20 at the four-minute mark.

Immaculata would close the half strong with a 12-2 run that gave the Mighty Macs a 32-31 lead at intermission.

Ambrose scored more than half of the teams points in the first 20 minutes and had 18 points heading into the locker room.

Bryn Athyn made six threes and shot a shade under 50-percent in the first half.

The visiting Lions got off to another strong start in the second-half to build a 40-32 advantage in the opening minutes with a 9-0 spurt.

Ambrose converted a three-point play to make it 57-56 in favor of the visitors with 4:45 remaining but couldn't get over the hump as the Lions connected on four consecutive free throws.

McCullough would finally tie up the game for the Macs and hit a three-pointer on the right wing to tie the game up at 64 with 36.1 remaining.

Immaculata got a defensive stop and Ambrose drew a foul to seal the game. He missed the front end of the double bonus but showed his experience and connected on the final attempt to give the Macs the win.

Immaculata forced the Lions into 20 turnovers that led to 17 points for the Macs. Immaculata also pulled down 15 offensive rebounds and limited the opposition to zero second-chance points to inch out the victory.

Anthony Burr scored 15 points to lead Bryn Athyn (0-10) as Haybert Louchie chipped in with 14 points.

Immaculata has a quick turnaround and hits the road on Thursday afternoon to face Rosemont at 3 p.m.
