READING, Pa.- The Mighty Mac women's basketball saw its four-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday afternoon as it fell to Albright 77-58 at the George C. Bollman Center.
Brielle Rigo led three players in double figures and recorded her second double-double of the season with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Theresa Kearney chipped in with 13 points as Shannon Kelly added 10 points for the Macs (4-3).
Gabby Boggs scored 18 points and played all 40 minutes to help Albright (7-0) remain undefeated. Dejah Terrell added 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting for the Lions.
Immaculata had a strong start to the contest and built an early lead. Kearney scored the first two baskets for the Macs and Annie Kohutka added a layup and a free throw to help Immaculata build an 8-4 advantage with 6:44 left in the first quarter.
A jumper by Albright's Hailey Dayton ended nearly a three minute scoring drought to help the Lions build a 10-8 lead midway through the first period.
The Mighty Macs ended the first quarter on a high note as Kohutka made a jumper with 35 seconds left to give them a 14-12 advantage after the first 10 minutes of play.
Immaculata carried the momentum over into the second quarter as they executed a 7-2 run to build its biggest lead of the game at 21-14 with 6:23 left in the second quarter.
Albright responded with a 9-0 run spanning two minutes to take a 23-21 lead at the four minute mark.
Both teams would trade buckets for the rest of the half as the Lions held a 32-30 lead at intermission.
Albright turned on the pressure in the second half to pull away from Immaculata. The Lions scored the first nine points of the third quarter and limited the Macs on the offensive end. Albright scored 15 points off turnovers over the final 20 minutes and ended the game with 26 points off Mighty Mac miscues.
Immaculata was limited to 1-of-14 from long distance in the game and was outscored 40-30 in the paint.
The Mighty Macs were able to out-rebound the Lions in the setback and scored 12 second-chance points.
Immaculata returns to action on December 4th when it travels to Dallas, Pennsylvania to face Misericordia at 6 p.m.
