Rigo Lifts Women's Basketball to Comeback Victory over Wilson

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- Brielle Rigo drilled a three from the far corner with just over one second to play in regulation to cap a thrilling 59-56, back-and-forth victory over Wilson on Saturday afternoon to extend the Immaculata women's basketball winning streak to four in a row.

In the first quarter, Immaculata briefly led before a 8-3 run to close the quarter provided Wilson with a slim 10-7 lead heading to the second period. The second quarter saw the two teams continue to trade baskets, which sent the contest into the halftime break even at 27-27.

In the third quarter, Wilson raced out of the locker room on an 11-2 run to claim a 38-29 lead before Immaculata began to chip away at its nine-point deficit. Wilson closed the quarter with another strong run, which sent the game to the fourth quarter with the Macs trailing by their largest deficit of the game of 10 points (45-35).

Eager to avoid a setback, Immaculata opened the fourth on a 15-0 run keyed by eight points from Theresa Kearney and another five points from Shannon Kelly to give Immaculata the 50-45 lead with just over six minutes to play. Wilson answered with a 6-0 run of its own to regain a slim 50-51 lead with 2:37 to play in regulation. After trading baskets for the balance of the fourth quarter, Rigo delivered the clutch basket with the final score of the game on a three-pointer from the far corner in the closing seconds to lift Immaculata to the 59-56 comeback victory.

Kearney and Kelly ended the contest tied for the team scoring lead with 16 points each while Rigo ended with 10 points of her own in the victory. Rigo also posted a team-high 10 rebounds to record yet another double-double in the Mighty Mac victory.

From the field, Immaculata shot just 17-of-59 (28.8 %) from the field while also shooting 6-of-21 (28.6 %) from three-point range. The charity stripe proved to be a difference maker for Immaculata this evening as the Macs were a perfect 19-of-19 from the line.

Immaculata also ended the contest with a +7 edge in turnovers, which led to a 24-12 advantage in points off turnovers for the visiting Macs. Immaculata also ended the game with a slim +1 advantage in rebounding thanks in large part to a 13-8 edge in offensive rebounds. To this point in the season, Immaculata has yet to be outrebounded on the offensive glass with its largest margin of the season coming when the team ended the game with a +11 edge in the victory over Cairn.

For Wilson, Jordyn Day led all scorers with 19 points while Samira Murphy turned in a 16-point performance of her own in the setback while Tori Cole came away with a game-high 11 rebounds.

Immaculata will be back in action on Tuesday evening at Albright beginning at 3 p.m. in what will be the team's final contest prior to the Thanksgiving Holiday.
