IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's soccer team returned home on Saturday afternoon to take on a familiar foe in the Neumann Knights in a game with major Atlantic East playoff implications. After a scoreless first half, it was a senior-day connection between
Riley Rudd and
Eleana Kriebel, which proved to be the difference maker in a thrilling 1-0 victory for the Macs.
Prior to the game, Immaculata honored its eight players completing their final year with the program as the team honored five seniors-
Courtney Phillips,
Eleana Kriebel,
Hope Bizal,
Carly Quigley, and
Maddie Bescript along with three juniors-Taylor Bracey,
Kayla Cadden, and
Riley Rudd for their contributions through their careers as Mighty Macs.
How it Happened:
- In the first half, each team played hard but neither side was able to gain an edge, thus, sending the game to the halftime break even at 0-0.
- In the 69th minute, Rudd used a great throughball from Kriebel to give the Macs a 1-0 lead, which they would never relinquish.
Inside the Box Score:
- Immaculata ended the game with a 16-11 edge in shots, however, Neumann held an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal.
- Immaculata also ended the contest with a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.
- Brooke Shissler was exceptional between the pipes for Immaculata a she made eight great saves with four stops in each half to keep the Knights off the scoreboard throughout the contest. This is the fourth shutout in five Atlantic East contests for Shissler and company and the second shutout the Macs have posted in the last two games.
