IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata University field hockey squad returned home for a special senior day battle with major playoff implications opposite the Wesley Wolverines. Prior to the game, Immaculata honored its three seniors in
Colleen Bradley,
Layne Kennedy, and
Jackie Victor. Despite a strong performance including a pair of goals from Kennedy, Immaculata fell by a final of 3-2.
How it Happened:
- In the first quarter, Wesley claimed an early lead via a goal off a penalty corner to give the Wolverines the 1-0 advantage heading to the second quarter of play.
- During the second quarter, each team played well but the respective defenses were up to the task as the game went to the halftime break locked at 1-0 in favor of Wesley.
- In the 40th minute, Immaculata evened the score as Bradley directed a beautiful pass across the crease to fellow senior Kennedy, which evened the score at 1-1 early in the third period of play. Unfortunately, Wesley wasted little time in answering with a goal of its own during the 41st minute to regain a 2-1 lead heading to the fourth.
- In the fourth quarter, Wesley scored an early goal before Immaculata answered back as Bradley found Kennedy once again to trim the deficit to 3-2 with just over 10 minutes to play in the contest. Unfortunately, this is all Immaculata would get despite strong scoring opportunities in the closing minutes to end the game with a 3-2 final score in favor of Wesley.
