IMMACULATA, Pa.- On a rain soaked Wednesday evening, the Immaculata University field hockey team returned home to battle the DeSales Bulldogs in non-conference action. The two teams battled through the downpours that spanned the duration of the contest, DeSales prevailed by a final of 3-0 thanks in large part to a pair of goals during the third quarter of play
How it Happened:
- After a scoreless and relatively uneventful first quarter of play, DeSales opened the scoring just minutes into the second quarter following a penalty corner, which gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 advantage heading to the halftime break.
- In the third quarter of play, DeSales scored two more goals to increase its lead to 3-0 heading to the fourth and final quarter of play.
- In the fourth quarter of play, Immaculata generated some of its strongest scoring opportunities of the match but it was to no avail as the DeSales defense was up to the task in the 3-0 setback.
Inside the Box Score:
- As a team, DeSales outshot Immaculata 13-5 while also ending the contest with a 9-3 edge in shots on goal.
- Immaculata ended the contest with a slim 5-3 edge in penalty corners.
- Randie Kuhar worked hard in goal making six big saves to limit the powerful DeSales offensive attack.
