Women's Volleyball Falls to Marywood

IMMACULATA, Pa.- Looking to halt a winless streak, the Immaculata University women's volleyball team returned home on Tuesday evening to square off against the Marywood Pacers in an important Atlantic East clash. Despite capturing the first set in convincing fashion, it was Marywood who would emerge victorious taking the match by a final of 3-1 on Tuesday evening.

How it Happened:
  • In the first set, Immaculata raced out to an early 12-8 lead, which prompted a Marywood timeout midway through the set. Following this timeout, Immaculata captured four of the next five points to claim a commanding 16-9 lead. Marywood would answer back with a brief run of its own, however, Immaculata still managed to hold on for the 25-19 first set victory to claim an early 1-0 lead.
  • In the second set, Immaculata jumped out to an early lead once again before Marywood answered back with a strong run of its own to earn the second set victory by a score of 25-18 and even the match at 1-1 heading to the third set.
  • In the third set, Marywood raced out to an early lead that it would never relinquish en route to a 25-9 third set victory, which also enabled the Pacers to carry a 2-1 lead to the fourth set.
  • In the fourth set, Immaculata and Marywood traded points throughout the early going as neither team was able to claim a decisive lead, which left the score even at 10-10 midway through the set. From 10-10, Marywood went on a 15-4 run, which enabled the Pacers to close out the match with a 25-14 fourth set victory.
