Women's Volleyball Falls to Marymount in Atlantic East Opener

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata University women's volleyball team returned to the court on Tuesday evening to open Atlantic East Conference play while also looking to snap a three-match losing streak vs Marymount before hosting Haverford tomorrow evening. Marymount used a strong run midway through each of the three sets to claim a 3-0 victory over the Mighty Macs to open Atlantic East play on Tuesday evening.

How it Happened:
  • In the first set, the two teams traded runs throughout but it was a late run by Marymount that eventually gave the Saints the lead that they would never relinquish in the 25-18 opening set victory.
  • In the second set, Marymount raced out to an early lead claiming a 20-4 advantage to open the set before Immaculata roared back to make it close but the early deficit was too much to overcome in the 25-17 second set loss. This victory gave the Saints a strong 2-0 lead heading to the third set.
  • In the third set, Immaculata claimed an early lead before trading runs with Marymount to keep the third set close throughout the early going. Ultimately, Marymount used a late run to claim the third set by a final of 25-14 to win the match by a final of 3-0.
Inside the Box Score:
  • Isabelle Davis had a strong performance for the Mighty Macs as she led the team in kills with eight on the evening while also registering an ace in the setback.
  • Megan Daugherty also played well for the Mighty Macs tonight as she recorded a double-double with 13 assists and 11 digs to lead the team in each category.

Immaculata will be back in action tomorrow evening against Haverford with that match set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
