IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Immaculata University women's soccer team was unable to overcome a first-half Hood goal in the closing minutes of the opening half, dropping its second straight game Saturday to the visiting Blazers, 3-0. Freshman goalie
Brooke Shissler made nine saves in the effort in what was a busy day in net.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Both sides struggled to get anything going in the opening stages of the match as possessions were exchanged in the middle third.
-Hood had several possesions end in shots on goal in the first 25 minutes, but goalie
Brooke Shissler countered with stops to keep the game scoreless.
-In the 41st minute, Hood was able to center the ball in front of the net and get off a shot that deflected off Shissler, allowing Colby Painter to knock the loose ball into the back of the net for the game's first score.
-The Macs had their best opportunity on goal in the 48th minute coming out of halftime when
Carly Quigley took the ball down the right wing and lofted a cross to the far post that was met by the foot of
Morgan McDonough, but the Hood keeper was there to make the stop.
-Hood was able to net two goals in the 51st and 63rd minutes, respectively, to put the game away in the latter stages of regulation.
TEAM COMPARISON
-Hood outshot the Macs 19-12 and had the edge in shots on goal, 12-7.
-The Macs were awarded three corners opposed to Hood's two.
-Shissler made nine saves on the day, two more than Hood's keeper Rachel Knoebel.
