IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Immaculata University field hockey team fell behind early in Saturday's non-conference matchup with Swarthmore, ultimately falling to the Garnet 5-1. Layne Kennedy netted the lone goal for the Mighty Macs in the effort, her third of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Swarthmore was first on the board with a goal just under six minutes into the contest. The Garnet would go on to tack on two more later in the half within five minutes of each other to take a 3-0 lead into the half. Macy Green and Willa Thompson each had shots on goal in the closing minutes of the half, but both were met with saves.
-The Mighty Macs struggled to get anything going offensively in the first 15 minutes of the second half, but Green was able to gain possession deep in Swarthmore territory, taking the ball down the right side and dishing to Layne Kennedy who buried it in the back of the cage.
-The Garnet responded with their fourth goal of the day less than minute later before putting the game out of reach with another tally in the 62nd minute.

TEAM COMPARISON
-Swarthmore led the way with 24 shots opposite IU's ten.
-The Garnet had ten penalty corners while the Macs took four.
-The Mighty Macs made 12 saves on the afternoon.
