BRYN MAWR, Pa. - Jackie Wood netted her first goal of the season to give the Immaculata University field hockey team an early lead Thursday afternoon at Bryn Mawr, but four unanswered second half goals ultimately downed the Mighty Macs on the road, 4-1.
Colleen Bradley assisted on Wood's first half goal, while goalkeeper
Jackie Victor made a game-high three saves in the effort.
Brittany Richards led all Macs with three shots on the afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Thursday's non-conference matchup began with an offensive struggle for both sides, as each team registered just one shot on goal in the game's first ten minutes.
-In the 19th minute of the game, Bradley gained possession of the ball and centered it to Wood in front of the net, who then promptly deflected it past the goalie for the first score of the game. The tally marked Wood's first of the season, and Bradley's second assist in three games.
-The Macs took the one-goal lead into the break as Victor came up with a pair of critical saves in the closing minutes.
-Bryn Mawr stormed out the half to knot the contest at one just under five minutes into the period. Merely ten minutes later, the Owls took the lead with a goal following a penalty corner with 20 minutes still left in regulation.
-The Owls would not look back from there, striking for two more goals in the next 15 minutes to come away with a 4-1 win, Bryn Mawr's second-straight to open the season.
