Tallies From Bradley, Kennedy, Thompson Not Enough at Goucher

TOWSON, Md. - The Immaculata University field hockey team netted three goals for the second consecutive game Tuesday afternoon at Goucher, but the Mighty Macs were unable to rally from an early three-goal deficit to drop a 6-3 decision to the Gophers. Layne Kennedy, Willa Thompson and Colleen Bradley each found the back of the cage for the Macs.

Goalie Randie Kuhar made 11 saves on the afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Mighty Macs found themselves behind in the early stages of the contest, as the Gophers found the back of the cage three times within six minutes of each other beginning in the 17th minute.
-Thompson got the Macs on the board and cut the deficit to two with her third goal of the season, firing a shot into the back of the cage from three yards out with ten minutes remaining in the half.
-Goucher responded with its fourth goal of the opening half with under five minutes left on the clock as the Gophers took a 4-1 lead into the intermission.
-Following the fifth Goucher goal in the 48th minute, the Macs mounted a rally with back-to-back scores to make it a two-goal game. Kennedy netted her team-leading sixth goal in the 49th minute before Bradley followed suit after a feed from Hilary Burkholder on a penalty corner.
-Despite inching closer in the second half, the Macs surrendered an insurance tally to the Gophers with ten minutes remaining as the hosts held on for a 6-3 victory.
