IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Mighty Mac women's soccer team (2-5) was locked in a good one on Wednesday night at Draper Walsh Stadium as they nearly staged a two-goal comeback against Alvernia (2-4-1), but the Golden Wolves held on to defeat the Mighty Macs, 2-1.
 
Junior Carly Quigley scored the goal for the Mighty Macs.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The teams played a very competitive first half, but Alvernia scored a late first half goal that gave them a 1-0 lead
-The Mighty Macs had some chances, especially late in the half, but were kept off the scoreboard in the early going
-The best chance of the night to that point came for the Macs in the early parts of the second half as sophomore Julia Schumacher got behind the defense, but her attempt was thwarted by the keeper
-The Golden Wolves added a crucial insurance goal with just over 10 minutes to go as freshman goalie Brooke Shissler was unable to come up with the stop
-The Macs had a beautiful goal with just over three minutes remaining in the game as sophomore Riley Rudd hit a corner to the middle and Quigley rose over the defenders and headed it into the back of the net for her first of the season
-The Mighty Macs were unable to net the equalizer as they fell, 2-1
