Two Noel Tallies Lift Macs To 2-1 Win Over Goucher

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Mighty Macs remained unbeaten during their four game home stand with a late 2-1 victory over visiting Goucher (0-5-1) on Saturday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium.  The Macs (3-3-1) got a pair of goals from senior Alex Noel, including a 83rd minute penalty kick goal to seal the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-In the opening 15 seconds, both senior Mark Staudenmayer and junior Nick Boule had quality chances that were stopped by the keeper
-Sophomore Mikey Kalpokas made a few good stops in a back-and-forth first half that featured good pace and solid opportunities for both sides, but it was the Mighty Macs who would strike first
-Senior Brendan Hanagan made a strong clearing attempt to the left side of the field to Boule with some space, who carried up and delivered a perfect centering pass to Noel for the finish to the top of the net and 1-0 lead in the 30th minute
-After the break, Goucher found the equalizer as they converted a penalty kick opportunity in the 58th minute to knot the game.  It broke a shutout streak of over 230 minutes for Kalpokas
-Goucher continued to pressure after tying the game, but the defense and Kalpokas was up to the task to keep it tied
-With 7:30 remaining in the game, Boule made a run at the cage on a centering pass from Will Helm and he was fouled in the back, earning a penalty kick, which Noel converted for the game-winning goal, his second of the game
-The Mighty Macs staved off the last ditch efforts of the Gophers for the win
