ROSEMONT, Pa. - Freshman Zach Malcolm netted his first two career goals Wednesday night to lead the Immaculata University men's soccer team past Rosemont in its non-conference finale, 3-0.
Mark Staudenmayer scored his second goal of the season in the effort, while
Alex Noel assisted on both of Malcolm's tallies to extend his team-leading point total to 13 on the season.
Mikey Kalpokas and the Mighty Mac back line posted a solid performance to keep the Ravens off the board for the Macs' fourth clean sheet of 2018. Rosemont registered just three shots on goal in the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Malcolm gave the Macs the early advantage with his first collegiate goal just 21 minutes into the match, as Noel sent a ball in to the rookie who sent it past the keeper for the first goal of the match.
-With only 15 seconds remaining in the first half, Staudenmayer doubled up the Ravens with his second goal of the season as the Macs went into the break with a healthy lead.
-Despite a relatively quiet second half from both sides, Malcolm officially put the match out of reach with his second tally of the night, this time coming with just over three minutes remaining in the contest on another assist from Noel.
TEAM COMPARISON
-The Macs registered 19 shots on goal while limiting Rosemont to eight.
-IU also held the advantage in shots on goal, 9-3.
-Immaculata was awarded seven penalty kicks opposite Rosemont's six.
