ARLINGTON, Va. - The Immaculata University women's volleyball team was unable to put together consecutive wins Saturday afternoon at Marymount, dropping its Atlantic East Conference and regular season finale to the Saints, 3-0.
Olivia Zdradzinski recorded a team-high 20 assists, while
Madi Curley and
Sara Desmond paced the Macs with 13 digs.
With the regular season complete, the sixth-seeded Macs now turn their attention to their Atlantic East Conference Tournament quarterfinal matchup at third seed Neumann Tuesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Marymount took control of the first set by taking 11 of the first 13 points in the first set, and went on to take the opener, 25-14.
-The Macs and Saints were locked into a back-and-forth battle in the early stages of the second set, as three
Jade Rindock kills knotted the set at five-all. The Saints then ripped off an 8-1 run to pull ahead 13-6 and pulled away for a 25-12 victory in the second set for a 2-0 lead.
-After falling behind 8-3 in the third set, the Macs rallied for seven straight points to take their first lead of the match, 10-8, thanks to several Marymount errors and a Curley kill mixed in. The Saints came back to regain the lead, 13-11, but the Macs battled back to knot the set at 13.
-With the Saints one point away from taking the set and the match, the Macs came back with three consecutive points to cut the deficit to one on
Margaret Hawbaker serves - including an ace - but Marymount was able to take the final point for the 3-0 victory.
