Mighty Macs Dropped in Atlantic East Quarterfinal By Neumann

ASTON, Pa.  - The sixth-seeded Immaculata University women's volleyball team was unable to carry the momentum from a first set rally Tuesday night at Neumann, falling to the third-seeded Knights in its Atlantic East Conference quarterfinal matchup, 3-0. The Mighty Macs trailed 13-7 in the first set before a 9-2 run vaulted them into their first lead of the match, but Neumann battled back to win the the opening set - and the following two - to advance to the Atlantic East semifinals set for Thursday.

Olivia Zdradzinski led the Macs with 13 digs, nine assists and four kills in her final career match with the program.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Mighty Macs fell behind early in the first set as Neumann took the first four points and later extended the lead to 13-7. The Macs responded with seven unanswered points of their own to take their first lead of the match at 14-13. Natalie Dependahl registered four service aces during the run - including a run of three straight - to complete the comeback.
-After the Macs stretched the lead out to two at 16-14, Neumann retaliated with a 4-0 run of its own to regain a two-point advantage. With the Knights leading 20-17, the Macs surged back yet again, this time with a 4-0 run of its own that included kills from Dependahl and Jade Rindock while retaking a one-point lead. The two sides alternated the next two points as the Macs clung to a one-point lead, but the Knights finished off the set by taking the final four points to take the opener, 25-22.
-Neumann raced out to an early ten-point advantage in the second set and never looked back, taking it 25-10.
-The third set had a similar feel to the second, as Neumann took nine of the first ten points to build a comfortable lead. The Macs were able to cut the deficit to as little as six in the set - including a 5-0 run in the late stages - but Neumann did not allow IU to inch any closer, taking the final set of the night 25-16.
