IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Immaculata University women's volleyball team played host to Immaculata's inaugural Atlantic East Conference game Tuesday night in Alumnae Hall, beginning a new era in Mighty Mac athletics. The Macs ultimately fell to the visiting Cavaliers, 3-0, to open the 2018 conference slate.
Sara Desmond had a team-leading ten digs in the effort while
Madi Curley and
Jade Rindock each contributed four kills.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Cabrini raced out to a 6-0 lead to begin the first set of the night, eventually stretching the lead out to 12 at 16-4. The Cavaliers finished the set on an 8-3 run to take it 25-12.
-The second set had a similar fate early on as the Cavaliers took an early 10-2 lead, but the Macs battled back to cut the deficit to four at 14-10 thanks to three-straight Cabrini errors. Despite the Mighty Mac rally, the visiting side went on to take the second set, 25-12.
-The Mighty Macs battled to the final point in the third set in an attempt to extend the match. Despite falling behind 16-6, kills from
Jade Rindock,
Shelby Belk and
Olivia Zdradzinski paired with two
Sara Desmond aces got the Macs back in the set at 21-14. Despite the rally, the Cavaliers took the third and final set by a final of 25-18.
