ARLINGTON, Va.- The Immaculata men's soccer team (7-6-1, 2-0-0) won their third consecutive game and second straight in the Atlantic East as they went on the road on Wednesday evening and defeated Marymount (1-10-0, 1-2-0) by a score of 5-1, equaling their most goals in a game this season.
Senior
Alex Noel scored twice after being named Atlantic East Offensive Player of the Week while freshman
Zachary Malcolm, sophomore
Kevin Hegarty, and junior
Connor Lindsay each scored once.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Mighty Macs wasted no time getting the scoring started as they scored twice in just over five minutes. Lindsay scored the first goal on a corner as he received a clearing attempt and deposited it for the tally
-Hegarty then netted the first of his career on another scrum in front on a corner and the Macs led 2-0 just 5:10 in
-Marymount cut the lead in half in the 22
nd minute on a counter off of a corner to make it 2-1
-Noel then got his first of the night on a pass from Hegarty from the back line and Noel scored his first of the night for a 3-1 lead heading into halftime
-The scoring held until Malcolm received a throughball from sophomore
Chad Catalana and went to work one-on-one against the goalie and scored his third of the season to put the Macs up 4-1 in the 63
rd minute
-Noel finished off the scoring with his fourth goal in the last two games in the 68
th minute to make it 5-1 and put IU comfortably in front
TEAM COMPARISON
-The Macs were outshot, 16-12, but the Saints were pushing the issue in the second half and registered 13
-The Mighty Macs took eight corners to five for the Saints
