Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Macs Kept In Check By Rosemont, 85-65

ROSEMONT, Pa. - Despite shooting 61.5 percent from the field and a season-high 20 points from freshman Theresa Kearney, the Immaculata women's basketball team was not able to keep pace with Rosemont Thursday night, falling to the host Ravens, 85-65. Dia Veneziano joined Kearney in double figures with 16 points of her own, while the Macs' bench contributed 28 in the effort.

With the loss, Immaculata drops to 2-4 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Macs got out to a quick two-point lead behind a pair of Kearney free throws and a bucket in the lane, but it would be the only advantage IU would have on the night.
-Rosemont (9-6, 3-3 CSAC) led by as much as eight in the opening quarter, but a pair from Kearney at the line coupled with an Annie Kohutka bucket in the paint cut the deficit to a two-possession game at the first intermission.
-The Ravens took control of the game by stretching their lead to 15 with just under five to play in the first half, but a 10-5 Mac run to end the half kept IU in it, capped off by Veneziano's jumper as time expired.
-Rosemont came out the break on the offensive, shooting 9-of-18 (50.0%) from the field in the third quarter and 8-of-17 (47.1%) in the fourth to keep a stronghold on their lead through the end of regulation.
-Veneziano scored 12 of her 16 in the second half to lead the way for the Macs, but despite a 14-of-21 (66.6%) performance from the field in the final 20 minutes, 16 second-half turnovers made all the difference down the stretch.
