Mighty Macs Edged At Home By Wesley, 1-0

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Mighty Mac women's soccer team (0-1-1) controlled the pace and possession for much of their non-conference contest on Wednesday night against Wesley (1-1) for the second consecutive game, but they were unable to take advantage of several opportunities and fell, 1-0, to the Wolverines.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Janiah Moore scored for the Wesley Wolverines in the 16th minute on a breakaway on Wesley's first shot of the game to beat senior goalkeeper Allie Tracey
-The Mighty Macs were relentless attacking the cage all night long, but were unable to net the equalizer
-The best chance for IU came with about eight minutes to go when sophomore Carly Quigley hit a free kick from just inside midfield that junior Courtney Stinger headed into the back of the net, but an offsides call negated the goal
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-Shots: Carly Quigley logged six shots, including three on goal, which tied Stinger (four shots).  Junior Carrie Quigley also added four shots
-Saves: Sophomore Isabella Romano made an emergency appearance in the goal and came up huge with six saves on the evening
-Team Stats: IU dominated with 25 shots to just nine for Wesley, and the Macs won the battle on corners, 7-0
 
WHAT'S NEXT
-The Mighty Macs head to Hood College on Saturday for a 12 p.m. non-conference game
