IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's soccer team opened the 2017 season with a 1-1 draw against Penn State-Brandywine on Friday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium. Freshman
Kayla Cadden scored the first goal of her collegiate career for the Mighty Mac goal and Penn State-Brandywine tied it late in the second half before the teams played to a draw the rest of the way.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Cadden took advantage of a loose ball that was deflected around in the box off a corner by junior
Carrie Quigley and chipped it into the top right corner of the net for the 1-0 lead in the 38
th minute. For the Nittany Lions, Brianna Banks scored the equalizer in the 82
nd minute on a breakaway and the score would remain tied the rest of the way.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Immaculata outshot PSU-Brandywine, 27-11, including 12-2 in the first half and 6-2 in the overtime periods. The Macs had a 9-2 advantage in corners on the day.
IMMACULATA LEADERS: Freshman
Carley Peacher had a team-lead with six shots total while freshman
Riley Rudd contributed five. Sophomore
Carly Quigley had a team-high three shots on goal while freshman
Erin McCue, Rudd, and Peacher all had two shots on goal.
PSU-BRANDYWINE LEADERS: Brianna Banks had one goal and led the team with five shots, all on goal.
IN GOAL: Senior
Allie Tracey played well in net with five saves, including a big save in the first half on a breakaway.
