Macs Drop 1-0 Decision To Delaware Valley

Box Score

IMMACULATA, Pa.- On a warm September afternoon, the Immaculata University women's soccer team squared off with the Delaware Valley University Aggies and both teams came into this afternoon's contest searching for a victory as they each entered the game winless, losing the previous game in hard to swallow fashion.  The Aggies (1-1) would ultimately prevail by a final score 1-0 off the strength of an early second half goal and the Mighty Macs (0-3) were unable to recover.

Freshman keeper Sarah Roselli from earned her first career start this afternoon and in the first half, Roselli and company shut the Aggies down allowing just three shots, two of them on goal which were easily saved. The Macs dominated the possession battle in the first half controlling the pace for the lion's share of the half, uncorking six shots. The Macs had a number of chances including one great chance with senior Carly Mirarchi on a breakaway in the 16th minute that was successfully saved by the Aggies keeper. The Macs would get a few more chances in the balance of the first half but they were unable to capitalize. The score heading to the locker room remained locked at 0-0.

In the second half the Macs continued to out possess the Aggies and also outshoot them once again as the shot totals ended up being 17-10 in favor of the Macs and 9-7 in shots on goal. However, a goal into the left hand corner in the 57th minute for the Aggies by Taylor Boyer would prove to be enough for the Aggies to hang on for a narrow 1-0 victory over the Macs.

Freshman keeper Sarah Roselli stood tall making six saves facing 10 shots and only surrendering the one goal. The Aggies keeper would prove too much as she was able to record nine big saves on the day to ultimately keep the Aggies in the game and propel them to victory.

The Macs next game will be Thursday at Wesley getting underway at 7 pm. The Macs next home game will be Tuesday September 20th at 7 pm against Washington College.
