Field Hockey Drops Non-Conference Contest To Haverford

IMMACULATA, Pa.- On Wednesday night the Immaculata field hockey team (3-2) played host to the visiting Haverford College Fords with each team looking for a big win to help keep their young seasons going in the right direction, and the Fords (3-2) would go on to top the Macs by a final of 5-0.

In the first half the Fords dominated the possession forcing senior keeper Sarah Pasternak and company to work extremely hard facing 18 shots with 14 of them being on goal. Pasternak made 10 saves in the first half to keep the Macs in the game. For the Fords, sophomore Mason McNulty opened the scoring in the 8th minute off an assist from Rachel Gordon. In the 22nd minute Paige Carson would score her 5th goal on the season to give the Fords a 2-0 lead and McNulty would score again in the 34th minute to give the Fords a 3-0 lead heading to the locker room.

The Fords continued to score adding another goal off the stick of Paige Carson in the 37th minute. Finally in the 40th minute the Fords would score their fifth and final goal of the night from Elena Veale. Pasternak and company continued to work hard as Pasternak would make another 3 saves in the second half ending with 13 saves on the day.  The Macs offense would be neutralized as they only had two shots with only one of them finding its way on net.

The Macs next game is Friday the 16th at Kings and the next home game will be Saturday the 24th against Wilson College.
