Women's Soccer Takes 4-0 Loss To Centenary

Box Score

IMMACULATA, Pa. - On a beautiful Wednesday afternoon, the Immaculata women's soccer team (4-9, 4-3 CSAC) played host to the Centenary University Cyclones (6-5, 5-2 CSAC) for its annual Pink Game, but the Cyclones went on to win by a final score of 4-0 at Draper Walsh Stadium. Each team was looking for a crucial Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) victory to assist them in their hunt for a playoff spot.

The Cyclones opened up the scoring early when they scored in the ninth minute when Chloe Christopher got a great pass from Emily Pizzuto to give the Cyclones the lead. The Cyclones continued their scoring in the 32nd minute when Kara LaPolice converted a flying header to give the Cyclones a 2-0 lead. The final goal of the half came in the 35th minute when Amanda Benoit notched her team leading seventh goal of the season to make the lead 3-0.

In the first half of play, Centenary dominated play out possessing and outshooting Immaculata. At halftime, the shot differential was 11 shots for the Cyclones compared to just five for the Macs. Immaculata junior goalkeeper Allie Tracey worked hard in the first half making three big saves to keep the Macs within striking distance entering the second half of play.

In the second half, the Macs pressed hard uncorking a number of good looking shots but Centenary keeper Kaitlin Marold stood tall and finished with eight saves on the day. The Cyclones scored once more in the 65th minute when Benoit struck again thanks to an assist from LaPolice to make the score 4-0.

Tracey worked hard in net for the Macs making four saves on the day but it was not enough for the Macs to come out on top.

The Macs next game is Saturday, Oct. 15th, when they visit Rosemont for a 1 p.m. start. Immaculata does not return home until Oct. 27th against Cedar Crest.
