Box Score IMMACULATA, Pa.- In a tight, well-played Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest on Saturday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium, Marywood (3-5-1, 2-1 CSAC) got a goal in the sixth minute that stood up through the remainder of the contest and the Mighty Macs (2-5-1, 2-1 CSAC) suffered a 1-0 defeat, their first in the CSAC in the 2015 campaign.
Senior goalie
Elizabeth McBride had an outstanding effort in the cage as she made 12 saves and kept IU in the game with stops in key moments.
The Mighty Macs had nine shots on the day, led by three off the foot of junior
Carly Mirarchi.
Marywood scored the lone goal on the day early on as Emily Kotcho hit a long pass from just inside midfield that Julie Youngman collected and chipped over McBride's head for a sixth minute goal and a 1-0 Pacer advantage.
The Pacers continued to control the pace for much of the first half, but Mirarchi generated a few chances for the Macs that sailed just wide.
In the second half, freshman
Morgan McDonough was the offensive catalyst as she got in deep down the right side a few times, but the Macs were unable to convert as they fell 1-0.
Immaculata will go to non-conference play on Tuesday as they travel to Washington College at 7 p.m.
