LA PLUME, Pa.- The Immaculata women's tennis team continued their strong start to the season with a 9-0 triumph over Keystone (2-2, 1-2 CSAC) in a road Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match. With the win, the Mighty Macs improved to 2-1 in conference play and 3-1 overall.
In CSAC matches this season, the Macs have a pair of 9-0 victories over Rosemont and Keystone and a 5-4 defeat at the hands of Cabrini.
Immaculata dominated this CSAC match as they did not drop a set through all nine matches.
In doubles competition, Immaculata lost just seven games. Junior
Lauren Degnan and sophomore
Kelly Gross won 8-4 in the first position, junior
Annaliese Kambouroglos and senior
Kara Trowbridge won 8-1 in the second spot, and the new tandem of junior
Jenna Fratterelli and freshman
Caitlin Savage won their second straight doubles match together, 8-2, in the third spot.
In singles, the Macs continued to play well. Degnan won 6-1, 6-4 at the first position and Trowbridge followed suit with a 6-0, 6-2 victory in the second spot.
At third singles, Kambouroglos played well with a 6-1, 6-1 victory and Fratterelli won 6-3, 6-3.
In the fifth spot, Gross won her second straight match 6-0, 6-0 while Savage picked up the first singles victory of her collegiate career with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph in the sixth spot.
The women's tennis team will move out of conference play in their next match on Tuesday at home against Penn State-Harrisburg at 3:30 p.m.
