Field Hockey Topped At Home, 4-0

Box Score

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata field hockey team fell under the lights at Draper Walsh Stadium on Thursday night to Goucher (4-1) by a score of 4-0.  The Mighty Macs (0-6) will return to Draper Walsh on Saturday afternoon with another non-conference matchup against King's College.

Senior Meredith Katona led the Mighty Mac attack with four shots, three of them on goal, and junior Brittany Robertson and senior Patsy Murphy each had three shots apiece.  IU had 16 shots in all.

Junior goalie Sarah Pasternak made nine saves on the night and junior defender Megan Wheeler had a career-high three defensive saves.

The Gophers got on the board in the 18th minute with a tally to go up 1-0 and that's where the score would remain at the half as the Mighty Macs settled in.

Goucher would put the game out of reach with three goals in a 10-minute stretch to extend their advantage to 4-0.

The Mighty Macs then ramped up the offensive pressure and developed several scoring chances as they had 13 second half shots and seven corners, but they were unable to find the back of the net.
