Mighty Macs Drop Home Opener, 6-3

IMMACULATA, Pa.-
 The Immaculata men's tennis team played their first of seven home matches of the 2015 season on Thursday afternoon at the IU Tennis Courts against Penn State-Brandwine, and the Nittany Lions took two of three doubles and four of six singles matches to deal the Macs (0-2) a 6-3 defeat.

Sophomores Stephen Smith and Mark Hueber teamed up to play a great doubles match in the third position and pick up an 8-3 win, the first doubles win of the season for IU.  Senior Will DeSantis and sophomore John Binner also had a great chance to pick up a win in the second spot, but they fell 9-8 in a tiebreaker.

In singles, Smith made it an individual two-win day with a 6-4, 6-3 victory in the fourth spot.  Senior Alessandro Mazzone came away with a 6-2, 6-4 win in the sixth position for his first singles victory of the season.

The Mighty Macs are scheduled to host Eastern at 3:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon pending the weather with their next match coming on Monday at Bryn Athyn.
