Macs Drop CSAC Contest With Keystone, 1-0

Box Score

IMMACULATA, Pa.- On a dreary, cold day at Draper Walsh Stadium, Immaculata (2-7-1, 2-2 CSAC) played well throughout, generating several scoring opportunities, but a second half Keystone (4-4-1, 4-0 CSAC) tally proved to be the difference in a 1-0 CSAC defeat for the Macs.

The Mighty Macs outshot the Giants, 19-11, led by five from freshman Carrie Quigley and three by junior Erica Buckley, but they were unable to net the equalizer.  Senior Elizabeth McBride made eight saves in the cage.

In the first half, the Macs possessed on the Keystone side of the field for most of the opening stanza, but were unable to take the lead as the teams went to the locker room tied 0-0.  IU outshot the Giants 11-3, and had a great chance on a free kick from just outside the box off the foot of Quigley, but it sailed high.

Keystone broke the scoreless tie in the second half as Nisa Cortes took a pass from just over midfield and outraced the defense before chipping a shot over McBride's head to give the Giants a 1-0 lead with just under 30 minutes remaining in the game.

Immaculata continued to pressure the Giants with a few more good chances by Quigley, Buckley, and junior Elizabeth Dudas, but they were never able to beat the keeper in the one-goal defeat.

Immaculata will look to snap their three-game losing skid next Wednesday with a home game against Notre Dame at 4 p.m.
