Field Hockey Drops Contest To Gwynedd Mercy

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University's field hockey squad fell on Saturday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium to visiting Gwynedd Mercy University in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action, 7-0.
 
The Mighty Macs (0-13, 0-3 CSAC) kept the Griffins off the scoreboard for the first 21 minutes of the game. Gwynedd Mercy finally got one past IU goalkeeper Sarah Pasternak in the 22nd minute, and the Griffins scored four goals in just over seven minutes to lead at halftime, 4-0.
 
Gwynedd Mercy (7-4, 3-0 CSAC) added one more goal in the early going of the second half, and Immaculata started to shut them down.
 
Immaculata had what appeared to be a goal by Patsy Murphy called back with about 14 minutes left in the game.
 
The Griffins then tacked on two goals during the final nine minutes.
 
Pasternak made nine saves for the Mighty Macs.
 
Immaculata will be at Albright for its final non-conference game of the season on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 4 p.m.
