Field Hockey Falls In Rain To DeSales, 4-2

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Playing through a steady rain Thursday afternoon, Immaculata field hockey scored two goals, but it was the visitors from DeSales University that captured the 4-2 win in non-conference play at Draper Walsh Stadium.
 
Immaculata got its first goal after time had expired in the first half. The Mighty Macs had two penalty corner opportunities, and on the second attempt Megan Donegan was waiting on the left side of the cage after she inserted the corner for Hilary Burkholder to feed her the ball, and Donegan scored her second goal of the season. The Mighty Macs headed into the locker room at halftime trailing, 3-1.
 
The Mighty Macs were awarded a penalty stroke as the scoreboard hit zero to end the game, and Nicole Dominick buried it left corner for the second goal of the game.
 
DeSales (2-8) scored in the 10th minute, and added a second goal in the 16th minute. The Bulldogs went up 3-0 after Tess Luzi scored her first goal of the afternoon in the 27th minute.
 
Luzi scored again for DeSales with just 1:43 to play in the contest, giving the Bulldogs a three-goal advantage.
 
Sarah Pasternak played all 70 minutes for the Mighty Macs making eight saves along the way.
 
Immaculata (0-11) returns to CSAC play on Saturday as the Mighty Macs head to Cedar Crest at 11 a.m.
