Mighty Macs Win Third Straight, 9-0

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's tennis team claimed their third straight victory overall and in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play with a 9-0 victory over Notre Dame (0-4, 0-4 CSAC) on Friday afternoon at the IU tennis courts.  The Mighty Macs (5-1, 3-0 CSAC) last won three in a row September 13-18 of last season.
 
In doubles, the Mighty Macs dropped just six games collectively en route to winning all three matches.  Junior Emily Degnan and sophomore Lauren Degnan won by a score of 8-2 in first doubles, sophomore Nicole Burley and junior Kara Trowbridge won 8-4 in second doubles, and sophomore Annaliese Kambouroglos and senior Pattie McGinley won 8-0 to maintain their perfect record at third doubles.
 
In singles, the Mighty Macs continued to cruise on their way to victory.
 
Lauren Degnan, Kambouroglos, and sophomore Jenna Fratterelli all won 6-0, 6-0 in first, fifth, and sixth singles, respectively.
 
Emily Degnan won 6-1, 6-3 in second singles and Trowbridge won 6-2, 6-2 in fourth singles.
 
In third singles, Burley had to battle back from one set down by winning the second set 6-4, and then taking the tie-breaker, 10-3.
 
The Mighty Macs will look to win their fourth straight tomorrow afternoon with a trip to Marywood at 1 p.m.
