Mighty Macs Claim Double Overtime Thriller, 2-1

Box Score

BRYN MAWR, Pa.- Immaculata field hockey earned their second victory of the season on Wednesday afternoon as they won a double overtime thriller, 2-1, over Bryn Mawr (2-2).  The Mighty Macs (2-2) scored the game-winner 1:46 into the second overtime on a goal from junior Ashley O'Donnell and assist from junior Tiffany Lockfeld.

O'Donnell was dominant throughout the game as she registered 10 shots on goal.

Lockfeld got the Mighty Macs on the board in the 43rd minute as she scored off a corner on an assist from junior Natalie Rivera, her second of the season.

However, after holding the lead for most of the second half, Bryn Mawr tied the game with 12 seconds left on the clock as they beat freshman goalie Christine McIntyre, who played all of the second half and overtime periods.

Immaculata had great pressure in overtime and almost had the game-winner a number of times, but were unable to find the back of the net to end the contest so the game continued to the second overtime.  In the period, the Owls had a goal disallowed by a foul and the Mighty Macs a breakaway turned away in a very fast paced period.

The Mighty Macs would finally put the game away in the 87th minute on O'Donnell's goal giving McIntyre her first career win in net after making six saves.

The first half was dominated by defense as the teams combined for just 12 shots with seven being on goal.  Freshman goalie Sarah Pasternak made six saves in one half of work.

The Mighty Macs will stay on the road on Friday when they travel to Swarthmore for a non-conference matchup at 4 p.m.
