Box Score

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's soccer team extended their best stretch of conference play in team history with a 1-0 win over Marywood (4-7-3, 4-1-2 CSAC) at Draper Walsh Stadium on Saturday afternoon.  Freshman Erica Buckley scored the game-winner for Immaculata and junior goalie Meghan McCurnin was strong in net picking up her second shutout of the season.

Marywood had six shots on goal in the first half, but it was the Mighty Macs who took advantage of one of their opportunities to take the early lead.  Freshman Carly Mirarchi carried the ball deep and put a perfect centering pass to Buckley who scored her third goal in the last two games for a 1-0 advantage in the 37th minute.  The assist was Mirarchi's team-best fifth of the season.

The Pacers tried to respond, but McCurnin made her sixth save of the half on a point blank attempt to preserve the lead heading into the locker room.

In the second half, Marywood continued to apply the offensive pressure, but the Mighty Macs turned them away every time.  Alixandria Fiore had a chance, but her shot sailed high.  On the next rush, Kimberly Vogan sent a shot to the far post that McCurnin swatted away just before it crossed the line to keep the Pacers off the scoreboard.  In the next rush, another shot was saved by midfielder Rachel Lamb as Immaculata still led 1-0.

The Mighty Macs defense continued to hold and Immaculata came away with their third-ever victory over the Pacers by a score of 1-0.

McCurnin was outstanding in goal picking up 10 saves in her fifth career shutout.

With the win, Immaculata has now moved into a three-way tie for second place with 14 points with Cabrini and Marywood.

The Mighty Macs will look to extend their CSAC unbeaten streak to seven games on Wednesday afternoon with a 4 p.m. contest at Cabrini.
