IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University opened its two-game field hockey homestand on Thursday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium falling in non-conference action to Stevenson University, 2-1.
The visiting Mustangs scored 6:52 into the contest as Kaitlyn May scored on a feed from Brooke Few, and Stevenson led 2-0 after Caitlin Dempsey's shot found the back of the cage from Ariella Hopp's penalty corner insert in the 17th minute.
Stevenson maintained its two-goal lead for the next 30 minutes before Immaculata scored in the 47th minute. Ashley O'Donnell scored on a penalty stroke for the Mighty Macs, which marked her fifth goal of the season and third on a penalty stroke.
The Mighty Macs pressured to score the equalizer during the final 23 minutes, but the Mustangs' defense was able to hold off Immaculata.

Patsy Murphy made six saves. Stevenson starting goalkeeper Katie Cavanaugh played 48 scoreless minutes recording one stop to earn the win.
Stevenson (5-5) edged Immaculata (0-8) in both shots (14-7) and corners (10-6).
Immaculata is back in action at Draper Walsh Stadium on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. hosting Cedar Crest in a Colonial States Athletic Conference contest.
